Diaconessenhuis Meppel - Understanding what matters

In 2007 Diaconessenhuis Meppel was confronted with a loss of 2,7 million euros. After imposing generic budget cuts for several years, the hospital management was looking for a more aimed approach. Tragpi has analyzed the productivity of personnel and the costs and revenues of DRGs. Also the costs and contents of DRGs were compared to 50 other hospitals. These analyses were the basis for sessions with all managers and doctors in the hospital.

This resulted in an improved understanding with doctors of the financial consequences of their activities, a tangible reduction in the costs of DRGs in specific elements of the treatment and further standardization of registration procedures within specialties.

This project contributed to the positive financial results the hospital showed over 2008 and 2009.
